2015-2016 Rising Star & Chapter Member of the Year Awards

Chapter Awards word collage

In any venture, it’s the commitment and contribution of the people that make things happen.  The AICI SFBA Chapter has been an example of commitment and contribution from its inception, as the founding Chapter of AICI.

Two awards were given at this year’s annual Installation event that recognize significant member commitment and contribution over the past year to the Chapter: Chapter Rising Star and Chapter Member of the Year.

Rising Star

Our 2015-2015 Rising Star is incoming-President Carol Parker Walsh. a well-deserving recipient of the award. The Rising Star award is given to a Chapter member who has been a member for four years or less, and has provided significant contribution to the Chapter as a new member.

Carol joined our chapter November 14, 2014; seven months later she volunteered to be Co-VP of Education (not a position for the faint of heart!) She thought of creative and new ideas for the Board to try and also volunteered to get them done. She lives out-of-state which could have created some challenges, but never seemed to affect her. And, now she has volunteered to step up into this year’s Chapter President position.

In addition,  Carol is a #1 Best Selling Author, and has had guest appearances on CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX channels. She is one of 20 licensed Fashion Feng Shui practitioners in the US, writes a monthly column for a Business Journal, and is a trained classical singer.

Carol’s business is Evolve Image Consulting. Congratulations to our Chapter Rising Star – Carol Parker Walsh!

Member of the Year

The Chapter Member of the Year award is given to a member who has acted above and beyond in their capacity as a Chapter member, has been an inspiration to others, and has achieved extraordinary results in AICI.

Our 2015-2016 Chapter Member of the Year is Elena Daciuk, a 5-year member of the Chapter and Board of Directors. In fact, Elena was attending Chapter events even before becoming a member.

She has been truly dedicated, passionate, and very hard working during her years of service, always willing to go the extra mile in everything she does. Elena has held a strong belief in this organization and what it can offer its members.

This past year she not only held one position on the Chapter Board, but THREE of them: Treasurer, Co-VP of Programs, Immediate Past President.

Elena’s business is Styling Fabulous. Congratulations to our Chapter Member of the Year – Elena Daciuk!

Two Great Opportunities to Promote Your Business

Do you have a product or service that can benefit your fellow image consultants? We have two opportunities for you to spread the word about your business at our upcoming Education Conference in February.

Vendor Tables
Friday, January 26
During Conference Social 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

This was a big hit last year at Conference. Approximately 10 vendors shared their products and services with Conference attendees during the social/networking event. Everyone enjoyed wine and hors d’oeuvres, mingled and chatted with their colleagues, and learned about new offerings in jewelry, accessories, client management systems and marketing. For only $100, you’ll be able to display your goods or services on the provided table, plus you’ll be given the opportunity to say a few words about your business to the Conference attendees at the close of Friday’s program, prior to the start of the social at 6:00.

Conference Goodie Bags
Distributed to all Conference Attendees

Who doesn’t love to get a goodie bag at Conference? This is a free opportunity for you to provide your colleagues with information about your goods or services. Whether it’s a product sample (face cream? lipstick? fountain pen?) or another little goody attached to your business card or flyer (chocolate kiss? breath mints? or…?), your business will be sure to be noticed by everyone who attends Conference.

If you have a friend in a field that could benefit your fellow image consultants (hair styling, dermatology, website building, etc.), please tell them about this great opportunity. This is not restricted to AICI members.

All items (approximately 50 total) must be to our coordinator no later than February 19.

Meet Your 2015-2016 Chapter President – Danean Gallaher

Danean Gallaher 2

Danean Gallaher, founder and principal of The Style Match, uses her innate sense of style, her experience as an educator, and her passion for people to help her client’s look and feel their best. Danean specializes in working with women who are in recovery from cancer. A breast cancer survivor herself, Danean knows there comes a time in your recovery when you begin to feel the victory over your cancer and you’re ready to take your life back. You’re ready to look and feel your best again. Key to her approach is her creativity, her sense of humor and her desire to bring harmony between the person on the inside and their look on the outside.  Danean has served three terms as VP Membership of the Chapter, one term as President-Elect/Secretary and this year will hold the position of Chapter President.

What You Might Not Know About Danean:

Danean loves to scuba dive and has done it in many places around the world.  She used to be Jr. High School Home Economics teacher (how many of us got our first exposure to the elements of clothing design in Home Ec?)

How to Contact Danean:

Napa Valley…Shopping…Lunch…Yes!

shopping woman 2

When you think Napa Valley, you might not immediately think of shopping, but you definitely should! In particular, the town of St. Helena offers a lovely Main Street, with shops galore. So what could be better than an outing with your colleagues and friends from AICI SFBA?!

October 22, 2013

We’ll carpool from various locations around the Bay Area, and start our day at the fabulous Amelia Claire Shoe Boutique where we can shop for shoes, handbags, hats, and apparel. We’ll visit a few more stores and boutiques, some of which will have discounts for us. (Fortunately for us, two of our members, Marjory DeRoeck and Carolyn Woodworth, have been taking clients to the area for a number of years and are well acquainted with the town.)

We’ll lunch at Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen. Cindy Pawlcyn, a pioneer in the development of wine country cuisine, is the owner of several Napa Valley’s well-known restaurants including Mustards Grill. For lunch at Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen, we will be seated in a private dining room where you will choose from three incredible entree selections, dessert, and tea or coffee.

The cost for the day is $30 to cover lunch (plus you can chip in a little to help out your member-driver with gas if you like!) Register now for this unique members-only event!

Let’s Share Our Ideas!

It seems that whenever two image consultants get together it isn’t long before they’re talking about some new program, or app, or store, or book that they’ve come across that has helped them in their business…or even just in their life in general.  We’ve all got resources that we rely on…and we’re always on the look-out for ways to do things better or more efficiently.

Well, now we’re going to be able to share our ideas on a regular basis and have all the information (websites, addresses or whatever) at our fingertips!

Introducing: First Friday Resource TrackFacilitated by Brenda Kinsel, AICI CIP
First Call: Friday, September 6, 2013
9:30 a.m.

234Brenda has used this technique with colleagues all over the country. In fact, there are things she uses in her business on a daily basis that she’d have never known about without this type of resource sharing.  Following one such impromptu session at International Conference this year, here’s what Board member Elena Daciuk had to say:  “I walked away with some great new ideas that had been already researched by my colleagues. It was awesome!”

Here’s how it will work: after you register for the call, you’ll compile your top tips on the subjects that have been selected for that call. The topics for September are:

  • What fashion or beauty tip are you using with yourself and sharing with your clients because it works SO well?
  • What’s your latest must-view blog or website or app?
  • How do you followup with clients?

Brenda will compile all the tips for distribution to participants after the conference call. (By the way, we’d love to get your ideas on topics of interest!  Please email your ideas to bkinsel@brendakinsel.com.)

Each call will last from 60-75 minutes – you’ll get to ask questions, share your experiences, and learn from your colleagues.  And when it’s all over, you’ll have a list of resources that have been tried and proven by your colleagues!  These calls will be held every other month, beginning in September, so save the dates (you can find them listed under “Events Calendar” on our website.)

To register for the first event, click here.  “See” you on the call!
